About The Course

• This Diploma is valid for all Government Hospitals/Nursing Homes, PHC’s in all over India.
Hospitals for Practical Training
The Charnock School of Nursing is affiliated to the hospitals of District level, Block Primary health centre, Municipal hospital and State Medical College & hospital for a wide range of exposure in practical field for extensive training of the students of Charnock School of Nursing.
Eligibility For Admission
1. Age : The Candidate must be between the ages of 18 to 27 years, as on 31 st July of the same year of the session.

2. Nationality :

   • Shall be a citizen of India.
   • Shall be a resident of West Bengal uninterruptedly for at least five years preceding the date of making the application for admission to       the training school.
   • The Residential Certificate should be issued by Gazetted Officer/MLA/Zila Parishad Sabhadhipati/Mayor of Municipal Corporation

3. Marital Status :  Married/unmarried/widow/divorcee/separated all are eligible

4. Education :  H.S (10+2) Examination or equivalent from a Recognized board/Council with minimum 40% marks in aggregate.

5. Instructions :

   • Marks obtained in- the vocational or additional subjects will not be considered.
  •    • Application are to be made in candidates own handwriting as per proforma.

    (III) All the columns are to be filled up properly.

       • Application should be accompanied by attested Xerox copies of all the documents.
  •    • The following documents to be submitted -
  •    • Mark sheet of H.S examination or equivalent examination.
  •    • Age proof certificate – Admit card or Certificate of Madhyamik examination or equivalent examination.
  •    • Two recent self-signed passport size photographs must be duly attested in which one is to affixed on the top right hand corner of the      application form.
  •    • Two self-address envelope with require postage stamp including pin code.
    •    • Application must be submitted To The Principal of The Charnock School of Nursing.

      6. Candidate should be medically fit. Candidates have to produce medical fitness certificate by a Govt. Medical officer while taking admission     in GNM training course.

      7. Hostel : It would be compulsory for the students to stay in the Nurses’ Hostel. Hostel would be provided with accommodation, in lieu of     hostel charge. Food to be provided in lieu of mess charge as the mess committee will decide from time to time. Each student must stay in     the nurse’s hostel and join in the nurse’s mess.

      8. Selection Procedure : Merit list will be prepared according to marks secured in H.S. examination plus marks secured in entrance examination and Interview. All the candidates will be called for counselling.

      9. Uniform : The uniform is compulsory to wear in the institute as well as during clinical works in the hospital.

      10. Vacations & Holidays:
    •    • Annual vacation 30 days per year
    •    • Sick Leave 10 days per annum
    •    • All Sundays and Gazette holidays will be counted as leave.

      11. Examination Fees : The students have to pay their examination fees to the West Bengal Nursing council through the head of the      Charnock School of Nursing. A Candidate shall be eligible for admission to the examination as the rules laid down by the West Bengal      Nursing Council & Indian Nursing Council.

      12. Registration : The students who are declared successful in the final year examination are eligible for registration with the W.B.N.C. as      Registered Nurse and Registered Midwife. After completing their period of training students should obtain “No Due Certificate” and the      students have to pay their own registration fees to the W.B.N.C. through the Institution.
  1. All students are required to be punctual and are not allowed to miss classes without genuine reason and without prior permission from the class teacher and Principal of School of Nursing.
  2. Students must comply with rules and regulations formed by the Institution.
  3. Students must be in recommended uniform in the clinics, community and in the classroom
  4. Student should participate and take initiative for leadership in professional and social activities.
  5. No visitors, mobile phones are allowed during class as well as duty hours. In case of any emergency guardians are allowed to inform to the School Authority.
  6. 100% attendance is mandatory for all clinical experience. Hence make-up of duty is compulsory for any absence in Clinical Field.
  7. Vacation will be granted by the School as per regulation of West Bengal Nursing Council, Kolkata.
  8. Student having sickness while on leave must inform the School Authority on the same day.
  9. Sick students are not allowed to stay in the hostel without permission of the school authority.
  10. Fees once submitted are not refundable.
  11. Each student is responsible to pay all the examination fees and fees for special clinical exposure as per curriculum.
  12. In case of discontinuation of the course by the student the payments already made shall be forfeited.
  1. It is mandatory to reside in the hostel provided by the institution
  2. Students are not allowed to keep any valuables like jewellery in the hostel. Students are solely responsible for their personal belongings.
  3. Students are requested to stay in the hostel as a family and solve their problems within the hostel.
  4. Hostel articles must be returned at the time of final departure from the hostel. After that clearance will be given and caution money will be return to the student.
  5. Rooms shall be allocated by the Hostel-in-Charge no personal preference will be entertained.
  6. Overall cleanliness of the room is to be maintained by the students residing in the hostel.
  7. No stickers to be pasted on walls
  8. No furniture to be removed from the room.
  9. Students are not permitted to use any electrical appliance other than light and fan, which are provided from the hostel.
  10. Fans & Lights to be switched off before leaving the rooms.
  11. Rooms must kept arranged & tidy.
  12. Avoid using garments & articles of other student.
  13. Visitors are not allowed in student’s rooms.
  14. Students own mobile phone (if) are to be kept under lock & key before coming for duties/classes and can be taken back at the time of evening attendance in the hostel.
  15. Visitors are allowed only on Sunday (10 am – 5 pm)
  16. One over night pass/month will be issued per month. Night pass issued only on guardian’s address. Class representatives should report to the Hostel-in-charge for night pass after obtaining signature from respective teacher previous day of night pass.
  17. Student should maintain the meal off khata for not taking hostel meal.
  18. Students are not allowed to make any outgoing calls from the institutional phone. Incoming calls have to be restricted to 3 mins only.
  19. Any candidate involved in Ragging will be punished according to law including expulsion from the institution or imprisonment up to 3 yrs or fine of Rs.25,000/-.
  20. No students are allowed to come out from their room with nightdress.
  21. Any student falling sick should report to the Hostel-in-Charge.
  22. The Hostel-in-Charge will be held responsible for escorting the sick student to the hospital & get checked up by the Doctor.
  23. Students are asked to spread their wet cloths only on the designated place not on the staircase railings.
  24. Strict action will be taken against the students if rules are violated.
  25. Serious disciplinary action will be taken against the student found absent from the hostel without any information.
